It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to the 3rd Annual Conference of ICA in Reykjavík in 2015.
The conference will address themes that are essential for archives in modern society, the role and function of archives and their importance for individuals, governments and businesses.
The National Archives of Iceland has been an active member of ICA and successfully hosted ICA events before. In 2001 we hosted the CITRA Conference and in 2007 a meeting of the Executive Committee here in Reykjavik as well as several committee meetings through the years.
The National Archives of Iceland along with its partners is prepared to do its best to make the 2015 annual conference of ICA stimulating event with good facilities and professional planning. Our business associates are “Meet in Reykjavík” and the PCO “CP Reykjavík”. The venue is the Hilton Reykjavík Nordica hotel.
I hope and believe that the ICA, its members, other participants and vendors will benefit from the conference. I am convinced that the professional program, social events and excursions for those interested in some extra activities, will be a pleasant and enriching experience. Icelandic archivists, record managers and researchers look forward to meeting their colleagues and participate in the professional program and social events this big venue will offer.
I am confident that the conference will serve the goals of ICA and strengthen archives worldwide in their growing importance in modern society.
Eiríkur G. Guđmundsson, National Archivist
